Where do I want to stay in Miami Beach, Florida?
Yazar: admin December 26, 2009I’m taking a trip with my boyfriend over New Years this year and we might want to do either a condo or hotel. They list under coconut grove, south miami, miami beach etc. Some say they’re on Ocean Dr, or near the Trump hotel but all of this means nothing to me. We want a beautiful beach next to us, good restaurants/ shopping and some going out spots. As specific as possible would be great. Thank you!
Geography for 1st time visitors:
Most visitors want to stay on Miami Beach, a city on a barrier island of the same name off the coast of Miami & connected to it by several causeways. "South Beach" is the southernmost 2 miles or so of Miami Beach. It contains the best known beaches, shopping streets, clubs, dozens of hotels of varying size, quality, price & ambience and the historic "art deco" district.
To be in the center of or within walking distance of the center of SoBe you want to stay somewhere below 23d street (address number under 2300) and on or within a block of Washington or Collins Aves., or Ocean drive.
Streets run from 1st on the South all the way to 85 up north.
Between 1st & 15th Streets Ocean Drive fronts on the Ocean. Above that Collins fronts on the Ocean. Hotels with street addresses ending in an odd number are on the Ocean side of Ocean Dr or Collins Ave (so you walk out the back onto the beach). Hotels with street addresses ending in an even number are across the street from the beach.

rent anything in Miami Beach ,southern than 17 street (street numbers goes down toward the south ,the lower the number of the street the better)
Miami and Miami Beach are not the same city ,they are in the same county ,do not rent in Miami everything will be far away and You may need a car..
in Miami beach near south point everything is at hand,two steps walking distance.
the south point has a go-around shuttle for $0.25 cents.

The Loews hotel or the W since they are nice safe resorts. Ocean drive is not what is used to be the economy has made those dumpy hotels even worse, it is all facade. The only nice one on OD is the Tides but they are overpriced and not as nice as the ones i mentioned. Trump is too far north. in south beach you can shop in lincoln road mall or on collins and 7th or 8th
